August 17 - September 26, 2019

Join us on Saturday, August 24, 5:00-7:00 for the reception for Mark Ashworth, a longtime Bay Area artist working primarily in large scale paintings. Ashworth's works can be described as "extravaganzas" of color with animated shapes that are both transportive and inspiring. Frequently working with gold leaf paired with bold color and varied palette, his work can be described as intertwined and patterned psychedelic botanicals meet Peter Max.

Born in England and a long time Bay Area resident, Ashworth earned an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute studying under mentors such as Richard Shaw, Tom Holland, and Sam Tchakalian. It was there that he developed his current style. Working in oils, Ashworth often grinds his own pigments and is a master painter due to decades of experience.
