An all-women art event popping up in San Francisco’s Dogpatch

OCTOBER 25, 26 & 27, 2019

1599 Tennessee Street, San Francisco, CA

We’re thrilled to announce the inaugural edition of The Ladies Room! The Ladies Room San Francisco will be taking place the third weekend of San Francisco Open Studios, one of the country’s largest open studio events.

The Ladies Room is an intimate, highly curated art show in a large pop-up gallery space featuring 20 exhibiting women artists, chosen from a pool of applicants by Danielle Krysa, The Jealous Curator. Danielle is an artist, podcaster, and author of 4 books, the latest being: A Big Important Art Book, Now With Women.

The Ladies Room was created to give an exhibition and market platform to women artists for promoting and selling their work outside of the male dominated art market. Each selected artist will be given an equal amount of exhibition space for installing numerous works, and each artist will be present to discuss their artistic practice and exhibited artwork with visitors throughout the event.

The Ladies Room was conceived because of the continued lack of exhibition opportunities, representation and support for women artists. While women have consistently been used as subject matter for male-created art, women continue to be disregarded for their artistic contributions and left out of important conversations or opportunities within the art world. The Ladies Room aims to make an impact in the male-dominated art market by creating smaller, highly curated exhibition and market spaces for contemporary women artists in multiple locations across the country.

The Ladies Room has no exhibition or application fees.

Who’s In?

We’re limiting this art event to twenty exceptionally talented women artists, and we’re setting the bar really high on this for the best quality, and to keep the experience small and intimate.

There is no application fee or exhibition fee for this event. This event will operate on a standard commission split for any sales (50% artist, 50% gallery) but artists are encouraged to self promote and connect with collectors, gallerists and art world professionals. Artists commit to installation, and being present in their designated area for the duration of the event to discuss their work and practice.

Note: We will not be contacting any applicants until August 01. After you submit your entry online, there are no automatic notifications or receipt.
