An intensive "deep dive" lecture and Q&A workshop with catered on-site lunch for independent artists.

WHEN: Sunday, May 20, 10:00 - 3:00

WHERE: Jen Tough Gallery, 942 Tyler St, Benicia, CA 94510

Devote a day to focus on promotion and discoverability. In this (almost) day long class composed of casual Q&As, multiple lecture blocks and presentations, artists will learn how to get their work out of the studio and into the world through a variety of tactics and techniques designed maximize sales, exposure and "discoverability".

We'll discuss:

artist websites

social media marketing

artist branding

marketing ideas

the importance of merchandising

artist agencies + services

gallery representation (how to approach)

pricing strategies for emerging artists

We will be reviewing class artist's websites in the afternoon and utilizing the group intellect (or hive mind) for feedback. This is a rare opportunity to get valuable critique on an artist's most important marketing tool by peers and a gallery director.

All lectures, discussion and Q&A will be led by gallery owner Jen Tough, who has 20+ years of experience in fine arts and art direction for visually savvy large companies such as Nike and Urban Outfitters.

Artists will leave with more detailed and realistic knowledge on how to better run the promotional side of their art career, including more refined goals, how to best approach galleries, peer contacts, and a list of resources.

Class is limited to 16 artists and will be held at Jen Tough Gallery.
